Turkish Twist

by Diana
(Boston, MA USA)

I have been married to my husband for 27 years. In 1986, I moved to Turkey for 2 years while I was working there. I met my husband at work and after a short time, he asked me, "Vilt you married vit me?" I didn't say yes right away because I knew there was so much involved. He didn't know how to drive, barely spoke English, wouldn't have a job once we got to the the USA, etc. It wasn't easy, but somehow, we managed. We have 2 sons, Arif & Demir, who are both in college. Intercultral marriage works as long as there is respect and love.
